Emmaus Ministries Position Paper on Homosexuality

PATH (Positive Alternatives To Homosexuality) is a coalition of secular, tharapeutic, research, and religious organizations in the U.S. and Germany formed to promote greater public understanding and acceptance of men, women, and youth who experience same-sex attractions but prefer to pursue "non-gay" alternatives. Emmaus supporters the beliefs and intentions of this coalition.

USCCB. United States Conference of Catholic Bishop’s November 2006 statement “Ministry to Persons with a Homosexual Inclination: Guidelines for Pastoral Care.” Excellent pastoral teaching for any Christian church engaged in ministry among the gay community.

You Don't Have To Be Gay, by Jeff "Bud" Konrad.
This story of a former homosexual excerpted from his book by the same name is one of dozens of changed lives stories included in the websites Stonewall Revisited and Another Way Out.

Journal Articles Support the Reparative-Therapy Treatment Option
Mark Yarhouse makes a strong case for the ethics of sexual reorientation therapy for homosexuality in the journals Psychotherapy and The American Journal of Family Therapy. Treatment "affirms the clients' right to dignity, autonomy and agency," and respects diversity.

Seven Things I Wish Pro-Gay People Would Admit, Bob Davies, director of Exodus International, an ex-gay ministry.
Pro-gay people rarely acknowledge the reality that change from homosexuality can be significant and genuine, even if it is not complete. A person's motive for change is not necessarily internalized homophobia. And such a person will often find peace and genuine satisfaction.

Biology & Psychology: Sexual Orientation

Another Way Out is sponsored by Christians who seek to help people desiring to change their sexual orientation. We have linked to AWO's Personal Pages, which has links to many personal stories from former homosexuals.

National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality
NARTH is a nonprofit, educational organization dedicated to the research, therapy and prevention of homosexuality. Founded in1992, it is composed of psychoanalysts, psychoanalytically-informed psychologists, certified social workers, and other behavioral scientists, as well as laymen in fields such as law, religion, and education.

The Journal of Human Sexuality Scholars, counselors and ministers on the topic of homosexuality
Articles fall under several headings: Biology/Psychology, History, Public Policy, Theology, and Social Service.
