Dear Friend,
This months newsletter is our 2005-2006 Annual Report.
Click on the link below to open a PDF of our Annual Report and see how your prayers and financial contributions were used to bless our guys. With hundreds of guest coming down to our ministry center and thousands of meals served, this report reminds us, the Emmaus family, that it takes all of us working together to keep bringing Jesus to the streets.
2005-2006 Annual Report
--------------------------------------------
Is God calling you to serve at Emmaus?
“Our task is not to make a little contribution to the solution of the pains and tribulations of our time, but to identify and announce the ways in which Jesus is leading God’s people out of slavery, through the desert to a new land of freedom.” ---- Fr. Henri Nouwen
I’d like to invite you to consider serving with Emmaus Ministries. We are looking to hire new staff in the areas of:
1) EDUCATIONAL MINISTRIES – a strong passion for seeing the church body grow in understanding the needs of men on the streets, a flexible individual able to meet groups and work with interns at various hours of the day, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. This individual connects with and is a very public face of Emmaus with college, church and other groups.
2) DIRECT MINISTRY – requires someone who has faced their own brokenness and is willing and able to communicate with men coming out of very difficult circumstances on the streets; a mature individual with patience, listening skills, and good boundaries who is able to handle conflict and crisis without losing his/her cool.
Our work is not for everyone. It is hard. The hours are long. And quite often, despite all our efforts, we lose guys back to the streets, back to their addictions and often to death. This is a work of shepherds willing to leave the 99 for the 1. It is a work of people willing to live and walk in the “distant country” that the prodigal finds himself. It is a work of leading young men out of prostitution and into a new land/life of freedom. It is a work of much sacrifice. Most people who have joined our staff have taken significant pay cuts from their previous jobs to do so. Some of our staff raise personal support from friends and family. Yet everyone has felt the call to do this work.
Is God calling you to serve men involved in prostitution through the mission of Emmaus?
If you think He might be, please call or email me at (773) 334-6063 or john@streets.org.
